Happy new year everyone! It’s going to be an exciting year for me this year – my new baby is due in June of course, I have a nephew who is due to arrive in July, it is my husband’s 30th birthday in August and one of my best friends is getting married in Ireland during August as well! Phewf, what a year this one is going to be!
I can’t believe that I am 18 weeks pregnant already. It only seems like a few days ago that I was writing my 17 week post. It won’t be long until my 20 week scan – I can not wait for that!! This week I have been noticing the baby kicking a lot more frequently. It has gone from a flutter to a small internal jab. I love this feeling, it makes it all feel so much more real and is a little reassurance for me that baby is doing ok.
I have started to browse online for prams and car seats this week. We got rid of the pram which our son had as a baby because we hated it! It was hard to assemble, hard to control and far too big and cumbersome (plus, worst of all, it was lime green!). He is now in one of these fold-up Maclaren pushchairs (which I used to think looked a bit chavvy, but believe me, they are so much easier to assemble, push and transport, that I don’t care how it looks). This time, we want to make sure we get a good pram for the newborn. I like the idea of the ones which you can slot your car seat into whilst the baby is small and then turn into a pushchair once he/she has out grown the car seat. A few of my friends have had these and it looked so easy for them – if their baby had fallen asleep in the car, they didn’t even need to disturb them by pulling them out of the car seat. So far, it’s the Quinny Zapp with the Maxi Cosi CabrioFix car seat which is winning my vote (see pic) – anyone had any experience with these? Would love to hear any feedback.
I went back to work this week and according to my colleagues who haven’t seen me over the two week Christmas period, I have had a bump boost! I am not quite sure if it is the baby or all of the mince pies? Oh well, I’ll blame it on the baby, I do that a lot: “Kelly! That’s your third cake in an hour!” “But baby wants another one!” Got to make the most of it while I can! 🙂
